Incubation Hatch Rate Calculator
Hatch rate alone hides the real problem. This calculator separates hatch of set eggs from hatch of fertile eggs so you can tell whether the issue is fertility or incubation.
How to use it
- 1 Enter the number of eggs set.
- 2 Enter fertility measured at candling.
- 3 Enter the chicks that actually hatched.
The numbers are estimates, not a promise. Use your own farm records where you have them.
Questions
What is a good hatch rate?
Aim for 80% or better of fertile eggs. Below 70% usually points to storage, temperature or turning problems.
What is the difference between fertility and hatchability?
Fertility is the share of eggs that start developing. Hatchability is the share of fertile eggs that hatch.
Why did hatch of fertile drop?
Check incubator temperature, humidity, turning, egg storage age and breeder nutrition before blaming the machine.
