Feed Conversion Ratio Calculator
Feed conversion ratio (FCR) shows how many kilograms of feed produce one kilogram of body weight or egg mass. Lower is better. This calculator works for broilers, cockerels and rearing pullets.
How to use it
- 1 Record total feed used over the period.
- 2 Record total live weight gained by the flock.
- 3 Divide feed by gain.
The numbers are estimates, not a promise. Use your own farm records where you have them.
Questions
What is a good FCR for broilers?
Modern hybrids can reach 1.5 to 1.7 under good management. Small farm conditions often land between 1.8 and 2.2.
Why is my FCR high?
Common causes are feed spillage, poor-quality feed, disease, wrong stocking density and slow growth. Check feed waste before changing the ration.
Can I use FCR for layers?
Layers are usually measured as feed per kilogram of eggs. The same formula applies if you replace weight gained with egg mass.
