Our story

Ekstreme Poultry was conceived and actualized in year 2008 when a couple in Nyeri Kenya constructed a small coop and stocked thirty broiler chicks within a school compound where one of them was teaching.

Lack was not too close to them as thirteen of them got devoured by a stray dog leaving them with seventeen which they raised to maturity.

During these days, they would slaughter them and convince their friends to buy and literally hawk the remnants within the business premises around Nyeri town.

The newly wed high school teachers, powered by resilience and a strong resolve to make an extra penny to supplement their teaching salaries, failed a myriad of times but cultivated a comeback power every time this happened.

As a result, they gradually grew their broiler flock from seventeen to four thousand at some point which they could harvest and take to the city market in Nairobi as Nyeri could now not take up all of them.

No sooner had they grown this much than the market prices started to dwindle and make little economic sense. This necessitated their decision to switch to layers and they stocked their first six-hundred-layer birds under deep litter system in May 2011.

These too came with their reasonable share of challenges which did not only knock them down but also caused the auctioneers to come knocking.

In all this, giving up was not anywhere within the list of their options and so after staying away from the business for a while, they bounced back in the year 2018 and stocked a thousand layers this time under the more modern battery cage system. They also formalized the business by registering it as a business enterprise on Monday November 18, 2019 by which time they had two thousand layers under battery cage system.

This was followed by strict disciplines of record keeping, banking of all the revenues and frugal spending while completely separating their lifestyle demands from business demands where business demands took priority.

When the covid pandemic struck in 2020/2021 it was a period of exponential growth for the business as the demand for eggs shattered the ceiling and blew off the roof, an opportunity that the couple grabbed and leased half an acre plot for strategic expansion.in 2020, they increased to five thousand by stocking an additional three thousand.

The ploughing back discipline by GOD’s grace continued to yield fruits and by mid 2023 they have grown the flock to eight thousand seven hundred which was the full capacity of the leased plot.

After this they saw the need to manufacture their own feeds so as to control the quality and hence produce safe eggs alongside increasing the production and lowering the cost of production. This facility, which is also on a leased plot has, grown to a current daily capacity of fifteen metric tons which supply a huge number of farms with very high-quality feed.

Further they diversified into brooding of chicks and pullets setting up a brooder with a capacity of thirty-five thousand pullets and has supplied high quality pullets to many farms across the nation.

In 2024 the couple acquired a further one-acre piece of land, fully constructed and stocked twenty-five thousand layers in four phases.

Currently the business enterprise which has since been transmuted into a limited company has acquired an eighteen-acre piece of land on which the ‘Poultry City’ a complex a capacity of three hundred thousand layers, a mega feeds factory and an egg processing plant, the first of its kind in Kenya is under construction.

The couple attributes all this not to proper planning (which they keenly do), not to their genii but to the enablement of the almighty GOD and being in harmony with the Divine order.
